When a person types in the phrase they want information on, they will be given pages of results. The top results are the ones that people will look at the most, as well as the ads that also appear on the results page. These ads are referred to as 'sponsored results' and they are shown based on the keywords that the advertiser has assigned to their ad.

The ads will not cost anything to appear if they aren't being clicked, they will only incur a cost when a person clicks on the ad.

You just enter a budget for the day, the keywords you want to use and the search engine will handle the rest. Your ads will be displayed until your budget for the day is reached at which time they will stop being displayed. Your ads will then begin to be displayed the next day.

The big benefit of this type of advertising is that you can control how much you spend and the ads are much targeted to a niche. Many small companies compete with large companies by using pay per click advertising. You can bid on your keyword phrase and the company that has the highest bid on a keyword will have their ad displayed highest in the results. If you are willing to pay enough for a keyword you can have a very highly displayed ad.

With pay for click internet marketing you should take your time and test different ads and different keywords. Sometimes you may find that your ads are not converting or getting many clicks and you will want to tweak them a little until you start seeing better results. It may take a few tries to get the right ad that will convert well and not cost the earth.
